"Our position on the signing of a peace agreement has been consistently and openly expressed by Mr. President at all opportunities from the Azerbaijani side," Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan told journalists, APA reports.

He noted that an initiative to create new peace agenda in the region and to conduct talks on signing a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan belongs namely to Azerbaijan.

"A document consisting of 5 principles has been namely presented by Azerbaijan. Today, it has been also noted by President Ilham Aliyev that the main point to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations is the recognition of each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Azerbaijan has expressed its position on this issue on the basis of the presented principles. If Armenia recognizes Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and accepts it, in this case, we can achieve normalization of relations between the states. It is true that Armenia has no other way out. Armenia should recognize Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and this was its international legal obligation. There are various processes and platforms for this and Azerbaijan’s initiative is also on the table. We are ready for the establishment of a working group soon, and as mentioned by mister President, and for discussions on the text, so that this process to end within the framework of concrete time. This can substantially change the security environment in the region and can form the basis of lasting peace and stability,” stressed the assistant to the President," said the President.
