Ottawa treaty suports this,” said head of the Delegation of the European Union to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Peter Michalko during his speech at the International Conference on "Mine Action - The Path to Reaching the Sustainable Development Goals" held in Baku, APA reports.
The diplomat stressed that global leader EU is one of the biggest donors in demining in Azerbaijan, this field is one of the priorities of the cooperaton.
“We see the size of the problem. €6 million worth of funds were allocated for demining. We work with international partners and local institutions. The EU will continue its cooperation with Azerbaijan in the field of mine clearance," he said.
In the end, the EU ambassador congratulated the people of Azerbaijan on the upcoming Independence Day.
