"The development of the North-South corridor is crucial for Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan," Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani told APA's Tehran bureau, commenting on the meeting of Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia scheduled in Baku this week.

He said that Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia are members of the North-South International Corridor, and today, the current problems related to cargo and energy transportation on international routes due to the global processes, especially events in Ukraine, have once again shown the importance of the North-South Corridor.

"Today, countries in the region and outside the region are determined to use this corridor for transit purposes, and therefore the development of this route is important for both Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia."
