"The process observed on the coast of Kazakhstan is not related to the level fluctuations of the Caspian Sea," Akbar Askerov, head of the National Hydrometeorological Service, told APA.

He noted that due to the very low slope of the northern coastline of the Caspian Sea, processes of seawater expulsion towards the coast occur as a result of strong and continuous winds:

"Currently, there is a decrease in the level of the Caspian Sea according to the season. The actual level is -28.65 cm, according to the Baltic system. The sea level is 35 cm lower in September of this year compared to the corresponding period of last year."
