Venezuelan President: “One more goal on establishment of NAM was to prevent armed conflicts”

“ There are special invited guests among the members of NAM. I would like to express gratitude to Azerbaijani President and Azerbaijani people for their hospitality,” the current chairman of NAM, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said at XVIII Baku Summit of heads of members states and governments of the Non-Aligned Movement, APA reports.

N.Maduro stated that Venezuela chaired NAM from 2016 to 2019: “ We witnessed several problems during this period. Sometimes international law remains outside, an economic blockade is applied.”

N. Maduro said that the Venezuelan nation is peaceful. “We have built our state based on the values expressed by our great leader Simon Bolivar hundreds of years ago. We have witnessed the imperialist movements during this period. It is impossible to break our will even though we encounter the pressure today. We have to put such pressures aside. We know that another purpose of the creation of the Non-Aligned Movement has been the prevention of armed conflicts. We have paid special attention to these issues during our presidency”.
