On October 28, the U.S. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki refused at the tradition press briefing to comment on the illegal trial of Azerbaijani hostages - Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev by the separatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime. He reasoned that they had no enough information regarding this matter.

Oruj said that this situation is a clear evidence of the double standards and discrimination in the US state policy.

“If you remember, in early August of this year, the situation along the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and on the frontline became quite tense due to the acts of saboteur by Armenians. Three members of the Armenian subversive group attempted to cross the line of contact in Tovuz region were killed while another, Karen Petrosyan was captured alive by Azerbaijani soldiers. After his death on August 8, the US State Department issued a statement expressing its deep concern and offered its condolences to his relatives. Unfortunately, the U.S. hasn’t yet commented on the issue of Hasan Hasanov, who was killed while visiting his relatives, and the hostages Dilgam Asgarov and Shahbaz Guliyev. Moreover, the State Department spokeswoman says she had no information about it. Aren’t these double standards, discrimination and pro-Armenian position?

The MP noted that the US official’s "unawareness" is surprising.

“The U.S. Department of State, various organizations demonstrate "detailed awareness" regarding persons arrested over different violations in Azerbaijan and politicize their cases in accordance with their own interests by issuing consistent statements. It seems as if the cases of Leyla Yunus, Rasul Jafarov, Intigam Aliyev and others are major issues of the U.S. foreign policy. I’m confident that “Human Rights Watch”, “Freedom House”, “Amnesty International” and other such organizations target Azerbaijan through various events and statements under specific instructions. However, when it comes to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, occupation of the Azerbaijani territories and national interests of our country, they either demonstrate a deep silence and unawareness or avoid questions with other expressions. I consider that such position brings glory neither to the U.S. nor any organizations functioning under its control,” he said.
