50% of Baku does not have sewage system

“Sewage system is 50 percent in 12 regions of Baku,” said Chairman of the Board of the State Environmental Expertise Agency Mirsalam Gambarov at “Expert hour”, APA reports.

He noted that as envisaged infrastructure has not been established in other 50 percent, the capital is in the grip of environmental problems: “Today rehabilitation and restoration of Boyuk Shor, Zig lake, Bulbula lake, Binagadi lake, Ucgol, in general, 9 lakes is planned. I think that there should be restrictions on the construction of residential areas in areas without a sewerage network. There should be a requirement that if a residential area is built, infrastructure should be established there.”
