The first cargo from Russia to India started shipping from Iran, said Dariush Jamali, the head of the Iran-Russia joint port in Astrakhan, APA’s Tehran bureau reports.

He said the cargo was two 40-foot wooden laminate containers weighing 41 tons.

"The cargo was sent for testing from St. Petersburg, Russia, and after being transported to the port of Astrakhan, it will be transported via the Caspian Sea to the Iranian port of Anzali," he said.

According to him, the containers will be transported by truck in the Anzali Free Economic Zone to the port of Bandar Abbas, and from there by container ships to the Indian port of Navashiva.

The cargo, which will be transported within the North-South International Transport Corridor, will be delivered from Russia to India within 25 days.
