Yerlan Turgumbaev – the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan – announced the initiation of 1,822 criminal cases on the facts of murders, terrorism, hooliganism, violence against government officials and other crimes, APA reports citing MAIL BD

At the same time, it is specified that out of 1,822 criminal cases, 116 were transferred to special prosecutors. The confiscation of illegally stored weapons from the population continues, he noted.

Protests in Kazakhstan began on January 2 due to an increase in the price for 1 liter of liquefied gas to 120 tenge (about 21 rubles). Previously, the price was 60 tenge. Then clashes with the police and military began in Alma-Ata and a number of other cities.

The CSTO peacekeeping forces were sent to suppress the unrest.
