Appeal to Azerbaijani President on dissolution of Milli Majlis adopted in Azerbaijani Parliament - UPDATED - 2

A law draft has been worked out on appeal to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the dissolution of Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and determination of early elections, APA reports.

The decision has been read by Deputy of Chairman of Azerbaijani Parliament Bahar Muradova.

The draft resolution was voted and adopted by a majority of votes.

“The structural reforms implemented by Mr. President have entered a new stage. The reforms are welcomed by the society,” said Ogtay Asadov, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at a meeting of Parliament being held today, APA reports.

He stated that on November 28, members of the New Azerbaijan Party who are the majority at Parliament appealed Milli Malis regarding the dissolution of Parliament and to hold early elections: “In accordance with the Constitution, Milli Majlis reviewed this issue and has the right to discuss. Facing new challenges, the expectations of society and other factors and deepening of reforms in legislative power made the renewal of Parliament necessary.

Meeting Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis starts, APA reports.

Appeal to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the dissolution of Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and determination of extraordinary elections have been included in the agenda of the meeting.

A meeting of Azerbaijani Parliament (Milli Majlis) will be held today, APA reports citing the website of the Parliament.

Note that the Political Council of the New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) has made a decision recommending the members of the party representing it in the parliament to raise the initiative of the dissolution of the parliament.The Political Council announced that the purpose of their decision is to support the reform course and staff reforms of President Ilham Aliyev. On November 28, NAP’s member deputies appealed to Milli Majlis in this regard.
