“We have been here for two days already. Active members of Azerbaijani civil society gathered here and we are voicing our slogans,” Chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources Amil Mammadov told APA’s correspondent assigned to Shusha.

According to him, illegal exploitation of mineral deposits, especially Kizibulag gold and Demirli copper-molybdenum deposits in the areas under temporary control of Russian peacekeepers was neglected and these facts have been identified.

He recalled that about 30 ecologically oriented non-governmental organizations of the Public Council addressed an appeal to the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent: "Although the appeal was addressed to the Major General Andrey Volkov, commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces, it was not answered yet. All activists were gathered here since yesterday morning. We demand Volkov come here, make a statement on all issues, and answer".

He noted that yesterday deputy of Volkov promised that he will come: "That colonel also hides and does not come here no longer. They damaged the reputation of the Russian army and General Volkov. Members of civil society do not intend to withdraw from here. This protest will continue until Volkov arrives".
