Washington. Isabel Levine – APA. Maryland State Senator Brian Frosh responded to US Azeris’ 5th annual "Commemorate Khojaly Massacre" campaign.

“Sadly, we see throughout history to the present day the kinds of cruelty you described visited upon innocent civilians”, said the Senator in his letter to the Diaspora members.
According to the campaigners, a grave crime was committed against innocent Azeri civilians by the Armenian army, on Feb 26, 1992, which became and remains the largest massacre and war crime of modern times in the region of South Caucasus and Caspian Basin. On that day, the Armenian government’s efforts to rid NK of its ethnically Azeri population resulted in this genocidal act, death, wounding and hostage-taking of almost 2,000 innocent civilians, mostly women, children, and elderly.

The Diaspora members called the senators to properly recognize and commemorate this war crime and genocidal act on the floor of the legislature, in the legislative record, in a form of a commemorative resolution and/or by attending a vigil.

“I will certainly remember your message on February 26th”, said Senator Frosh, APA’s correspondent reports.
