Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin spoke by phone with Toivo Klaar, the EU's special representative for the South Caucasus, says the Russian Foreign Ministry, APA reports.

The diplomats discussed the situation in the South Caucasus.

Mr. Galuzin noted that "Brussels' decision to place a mission in Armenia does not help regulate the situation in the region.

While discussing the issue of normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijani relations, Mikhail Galuzin noted that Brussels' decision to place a so-called EU civilian mission in Armenia has different geopolitical shades that do not contribute to real stabilization in the South Caucasus: "There is no consensus between Baku and Yerevan regarding this initiative."
