Azerbaijan restricts import of poultry and poultry products from some provinces of Iran

Azerbaijan has restricted the import of poultry and poultry products from some provinces of Iran, the Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan told APA.

According to the information of World Organization for Animal Health, highly pathogenic avian influenza has been recorded in Mazandaran, Gilan, Gom, Kurdistan provinces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Fife administrative-territorial unit of Scotland.

In order to protect the territory of the country from infectious animal diseases that can pass through other countries, according to the Terrestrial Animal Health Code of World Organization for Animal Health taking into account zoning principle, a temporary restriction has been applied on import of all kinds of live birds and poultry products from Mazandaran, Gilan, Gom, Kurdistan provinces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Fife administrative-territorial unit of Scotland.
