Heavy rains lashed south China's Guangdong Province on Tuesday, causing waterlogging in several cities and grounding flights, APA reports citing Xinhua.

According to the provincial departments of meteorology and hydrology, heavy downpours were recorded in 16 towns in the province. The Guangdong Meteorological Observatory forecast that the rains would continue until Saturday.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport in the provincial capital of Guangzhou cancelled 37 flights and delayed 23 outbound flights on Tuesday.

The rainy weather also brought difficulties to anti-epidemic work in Guangzhou, which is carrying out a mass testing to curb the recent COVID-19 resurgence.
