Automobile manufacturing in Azerbaijan decreases by 18% due to coronavirus

During January-July of this year, 1 074 units of passenger cars were manufactured in Azerbaijan, the State Statistics Committee told APA-Economics.

Compared to the same period of the last year, in the past seven months of the current year, the manufacturing of passenger cars in the country decreased by 17,6%. As of August 1, 143 units of ready product reserve were left in storehouses.

Besides, in the reporting period, 105 units of tractors were manufactured in Azerbaijan which is 86,7% less compared to January-July of the last year. As of August 1, 218 units of ready product reserve were left in storehouses.

Note that during January-July of the current year, 27 792 units of automobiles were imported into Azerbaijan. This is 21% more compared to the same period of the last year.

Remind that the decline in the manufacturing of passenger cars and tractors is associated with the quarantine regime applied in the country in the framework of the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, from April of the current year, the manufacturing of passenger cars was suspended in the country. The manufacturing was resumed as late as in June. While the manufacturing of tractors was suspended beginning from May and hasn’t s yet been resumed.
