Child Parliament introduced in Azerbaijani Parliament

Today presentation of Child Parliament was held in Azerbaijani Parliament, APA reports.
Azerbaijani Education Minister Misir Mardanov, Youth and Sport Minister Azad Rahimov, Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova and Azerbaijani Parliament’s senior officials attended the presentation.
Vice-speaker of Parliament Bahar Muradova said that 85 parliamentarians from every region are represented in the Child Parliament. Taleh Aliyev has been elected the speaker of the Child Parliament and Farida Aliyeva vice-speaker. Eight commissions of the Parliament have been established. Ms. Muradova said that Child Parliament is operating in most countries and engaged in taking measures for protection of children’s rights.
The chairman of the Union of Women Leaders, MP Malahat Hasanova said that the establishment of Child Parliament has long been prepared. The parliamentarian stating that Azerbaijan joined to international conventions on the protection of children’s rights stressed that she hopes that Child Parliament will contribute to the protection of children’s rights.
UNICEF representative to Azerbaijan Hanna Singer said that such meeting was held for the first time in Azerbaijani Parliament. She said that she is ready to do her best for the activity of Child parliament. The speaker of Child Parliament Taleh Aliyev underlined that the establishment of the organization aims the participation of children in legislation process and propaganda of democratic principles among children. He also said that they will cooperate with the Child Parliaments of other countries.
Vice-speaker of the Parliament Farida Aliyeva said that the child parliament members have been elected for a period of three years, and ten parliamentarians represent eight commissions of the Parliament. After the representation, the members of the Child Parliament took photos. /APA/
