Europe opens mostly lower on inflation, energy price hikes

Major stock markets in Europe opened mostly lower on Monday, as investors analyzed how the ongoing energy crisis will affect trading. United Kingdom officials said that the government will support those industries that have been affected by increasing gas prices. Meanwhile, the Bank of England governor discussed concerning rises in inflation levels, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The DAX started 0.60% in the red, with Porsche falling 1.33%. The FTSE 100 was flat at the opening bell. The CAC 40 began 0.17% lower, as Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield decreased 0.90%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar trading for $1.15798 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound increased 0.34% against the American currency changing hands for $1.36618 a minute later.
