Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvienko thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for their attentive attitude to the Russian language, which for Russians is the language of interethnic communication, Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation stated at 10th Russian-Azerbaijan Interregional Forum, APA reports citing Ria Novosti.
Stressing the special role of Humanitarian relations in Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation V. Matviyenko said that the great work is being implemented to study the Russian language, preserve the traditions and spiritual values of the Slavic peoples in Baku Slavic University.
Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly also noted that there are branches of Lomonosov Moscow State University and Sechenov Medical Academy. As well as there are almost 400 schools with instruction in Russian.
"We always express our gratitude to the leadership of Azerbaijan for such an attentive attitude to the Russian language,” V. Matviyenko stressed.
