The Japanese government has decided to introduce an additional package of sanctions against the Russian Federation due to the situation in Ukraine, said Fumio Kishida, head of the Japanese government, at a press conference following the results of talks held in London with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, APA reports citing TASS.

He stressed that the new package of sanctions consists of four main areas.

"The first is the freezing of the assets of about 140 more individuals. The second is the extension of the ban on the supply of various products to companies in the Russian military-industrial complex. The new sanctions include increasing the list of restricted Russian banks, as well as expanding the import embargo, "Kishida said.

Specific sanctions lists are expected to be made public by Japan in the coming days.

Kishida also promised to continue active support for Ukraine, but also expressed concern over the situation in Southeast Asia.

Japan has previously adopted several packages of restrictions against the Russian Federation due to the situation around Ukraine. A total of more than 500 people fell under individual sanctions, including representatives of the country's leadership, officials and businessmen.
