Azerbaijan, Russia intend to expand military co-op

Moscow. Farid Akberov – APA. Russia and Azerbaijan intend to expand military cooperation, said Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov in Moscow Nov. 30 on the sidelines of the meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council, APA’s Moscow correspondent reported.

Shoigu noted that the defense ministries of Azerbaijan and Russia also plan to enhance cooperation in the training of Azerbaijani servicemen in Russia’s military educational institutions.

“In 2016 Russia-Azerbaijan military relations developed according to plan. We have developed a plan for 2017,” the Russian minister said, adding. “We will expand military cooperation that covers staff conversations and training. We will propose additional provisions on cooperation.”
