The drivers of passenger vans serving about a dozen public transport routes in Yerevan went on strike since this morning, APA reports citing news.am.

They demand a review of the conditions under which they work. "When Pashinyan started the movement, we joined him. What happened now? Give advantage to urban transport," one driver said. "How 'choked' can we work? Let them give a reward, besides, let them give a privilege [to these drivers] (…). It is necessary to review everything and find a solution."

Another driver stated that their demand from the government is to think and find a solution. “Let the government either lower taxes or lower the price of [compressed natural] gas for us. (…). Let them (…) give public transport lanes. ”

Edgar Galstyan, the head of the transport department of Yerevan municipality, arrived at the scene, and he asked the drivers to continue working for 10 more days until they could find answers to their questions. "All solutions will gradually be given," he said.

The drivers agreed to work for another 10 days, but said if nothing changes, they will protest again.
