Mazahir Panahov: “60 candidates withdraw their candidacy after being registered”

“Registration, one of the main stages of the election process, has already been completed”, head of Central Election Commission (CEC) Mazahir Panahov told reporters, APA reports.

He stated that 15 156 municipality members should be elected for 1606 municipalities in elections to be held in Azerbaijan: “More than 42 thousand people applied for municipal elections to be held this year. All people, who returned signature papers, have been registered”.

Head of CEC noted about 50-60 candidates withdrew their candidacy by application after being registered and did not want their names to be noted in bulletin: “About 41800 candidates’ names will be noted in bulletin. If any candidate withdraws their candidacy during the left period of time, he should officially apply in this regard. Names of these candidates will be ruled out.”
