"Our country gained a great reputation in the international community,” the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has said it at the 2nd Baku Summit of World Religious Leaders, APA reports.
The Head of State said the final declaration of the Non-Aligned Movement Summit held in Baku last month reflects justice: “Azerbaijan has assumed its chairmanship in this large organization. With the unanimous decision of 120 countries, Azerbaijan will chair the Non-Aligned Movement for the next three years.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Azerbaijan's economic indicators are very positive: "Since 2003, the country's economy has grown 3.2 times. Literacy is about 100 percent. Poverty has fallen from about 50 percent to 5 percent over the past 16 years. Azerbaijan attaches great importance to technological development, and today it is a member of a space club with a limited number of countries and we have three satellites. Important transportation projects are realized. These projects are not just transport projects, but cooperation projects. Because transport is the area where the neighboring and other countries of the region depend on each other. Azerbaijan, as a landlocked country, has already become one of the international transport hubs. East-West and North-South transport corridors pass through Azerbaijan. All these successes give us a strong sense of hope that our development will be successful and our future prosperous.”
