Direct drilling of a new assessment well will be started in February of this year to collect information about the deep gas layers under the oil field currently in operation in the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) structure," the head of the Public Relations Department at BP Azerbaijan Tamam Bayatli told APA-Economics.

According to Tamam Bayatli, the dilling preparation work has started since January 15 of this year, and currently, concreting the unnecessary (lower part - ed.) part of the injector well is underway. The preparatory work is planned to be carried out within 20 days.

She added that the total depth of the well would be 4,500 meters, consisting of the necessary upper part of the existing well and the newly drilled part.

Tamam Bayatli stressed that the drilling of the well will not affect the production process on the Chirag platform: "Thus, an injector well which cannot affect the production was chosen for the drilling of the side pipe."
