"Russia was Europe's biggest supplier of fuel, and the EU was one of the biggest customers of Russia's fossil fuel resources, but that has come to an end," said President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who is on a visit to Moldova, at a joint press conference with the President of this country, Maya Sandu, APA reports.

"Russia - Gazprom has cut 80 percent of gas supplies to Europe in the last eight months. However, we managed to compensate for this and diversified our sources. We have replaced Russia with reliable suppliers such as the USA, Norway, Azerbaijan, and Algeria. We are also saving energy. Our gas storage is full and well-prepared for winter.

I emphasize once again that we have very seriously reduced our dependence on Russian fossil fuels. Russia is no longer a reliable supplier," Ursula von der Leyen stressed.
