Negative balance of trade turnover of Georgia with Azerbaijan increases by 36%

The volume of Georgia’s foreign trade turnover with Azerbaijan was USD 86,153,5 thousand in January of this year, which is 16.9% or $ 17 625,2 thousand less in comparison to the same period of 2020, it was noted in the report of National Statistics Office of Georgia, APA’s bureau in Georgia reports.

During the reporting month Georgia has imported from Azerbaijan goods and products amounted USD 51 749,8 thousand, this indicator has decreased by 11.2% in comparison to the previous year.

Import from Azerbaijan has constituted 9.6% of Georgia’s total import in the reporting period.

Georgia’s export to Azerbaijan amounted to USD 34 403,7 thousand in January. This is 24.4% less in comparison to the same month of 2020. Export to Azerbaijan made up 15.3% of Georgia’s total export.

As a result, there has been a negative balance of USD 17 346,1 thousand in Georgia’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan, this increased by 36% in the annual average. The negative balance amounted to USD 12 754,1 thousand in January of the previous year.
