“As you know, amid the existing global COVID-19 pandemic, the evacuation of the citizens of the Azerbaijan Republic being in foreign countries and wishing to return to the country is being continued. On May 14 of this year, 197 our citizens returned to our country by AZAL’s Kyiv-Baku charter flight. I would like to stress that all our returned citizens have been carried through relevant examination and put in quarantine regime”, said Leyla Abdullayeva, head of Press service department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic, APA reports.

“We would like to regretfully announce that as a result of the examination, 29 of our returned citizens tested positive for COVID-19. Currently, the necessary medical intervention is being conducted in regard to these citizens and of course, the people contacted with them are taken under control and examined under the quarantine regime.

This once again shows how important it is to comply with self-isolation rules according to serious recommendations of the World Health Organization and to abstain from travels as much as possible. On our part, we have repeatedly reminded our citizens the necessity of strict compliance with quarantine rules in the countries of stay and abstention from traveling in terms of protection of health of both themselves and their family members and prevention of wide spread of infection in our country.

We once again appeal to our citizens and ask them to demonstrate understanding in the existing temporary hardship condition for the sake of protection of their own health and the health of the Azerbaijani people, to stay in the places where they currently are as far as possible and to abstain from traveling”, the MFA official stressed.
