Ali Akbar Vilayati said that the power of Iran is not against our friends, but against the enemies of Iran and Azerbaijan, as well as our other neighbors: "The people of Azerbaijan are the light of our eyes. In recent weeks, some out of ignorance and some out of bias have been spreading rumors that Iran wants to fight with the Republic of Azerbaijan. This is a blatant slander against Iran. Iran has no intention of attacking any country, including its neighbors, whether in the Caucasus or elsewhere. Especially the people of the same race, language, religion, tradition, and history, that is, the people of the Republic of Azerbaijan, are the light of our eyes. Even today, the Islamic Republic of Iran wants nothing more than the happiness of the peoples of the region and has no eyes on the territory of any country in the region. If Azerbaijan is attacked by any country, it will look to Iran for support. Although there is a separation between us and the Azerbaijanis in the north of Araz for any reason, we do not try to remove the borders and occupy any place. The people of Azerbaijan rule their own country, and such inappropriate words and accusations are baseless, and let them - the enemies of Iran and Azerbaijan - know that their efforts in this regard will be futile."
