On January 24, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's speech at the Foreign Relations Committee of the European Union Parliament is a clear example of hypocrisy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told APA.

"The proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia to resolve the situation around the Lachin road through war is a serious threat. It is known that the ideas of calling for war by Armenian leaders are not new. Back in 2019, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed his opinion about "Karabakh is Armenia", while former Defense Minister Tonoyan expressed his opinion about "a new war for new lands". Foreign Minister Mirzoyan's proposal of a military solution shows that Armenia has not learned from history and still does not understand the consequences of occupying Azerbaijani territories for 30 years. It is necessary to prevent this adventure of the Armenian side.

It seems that after the war of 2020, Armenia has grossly violated its obligations (not withdrawing the Armenian armed forces from our territories, continuing illegal activities on the territory of Azerbaijan, abusing the Lachin road and carrying out the rotation of military personnel, continuing to threaten mines in Azerbaijan, illegal exploitation of natural resources, creating conditions for the illegal passage of citizens of third countries to the territory of Azerbaijan, etc.) The lack of attention by these institutions to the undeniable facts presented by Azerbaijan to the European Union and other international organizations, as well as to the Parliaments, has once again emboldened the Armenian side. At the same time, it is clear that this speech of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia was inspired by the wrong, non-peace-supporting, and revanchism-inciting statements made by a number of international circles regarding the situation around the Lachin road.

In general, since the period of independence, which violated the norms and principles of international law, committed military aggression and mass massacres against the internationally recognized territories of Azerbaijan, destroyed the occupied cities and hundreds of villages, carried out ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijanis, expelled hundreds of thousands of people from their native lands, the UN It is absurd for Armenia, which does not implement the 4 resolutions of the Security Council, to refer to international law and international rules, turn to international organizations and call for intervention after our territories were freed from occupation.

It is well known that the views voiced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mirzoyan that Armenia participated in good faith in the negotiations on three directions initiated by Azerbaijan (opening of all transport communications, delimitation, signing of the peace agreement) do not reflect the truth. After the proposals on the peace agenda were put forward, the Armenian side did not respond to our appeals for months, did not take practical steps to advance the process, and continuously hindered the process with various excuses.

It is unreasonable for the Armenian side to voice the idea that Azerbaijan demands an "extraterritorial corridor" once again. We remind you once again that according to paragraph 9 of the Tripartite Declaration, Armenia has an obligation to "establish a transport connection between the western regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan in order to organize the unhindered movement of citizens, vehicles and cargo in both directions." Armenia has agreed to provide unhindered movement through its territory and must comply with this obligation. Similarly, 8 villages of Azerbaijan and dozens of sq. It is surprising that the Armenian side, which still occupies the territories of 100,000 km, declares that it is not committed to the delimitation process of Azerbaijan.

Armenia, which did not respond to Azerbaijan's proposal to sign a peace agreement for more than 8 months, then conditioned the signing of the peace agreement with a delimitation process that usually takes a long time, proposed the creation of a demilitarized zone in an undefined border region, obstructed the peace agreement with various pretexts, and about the essence of the negotiation process by exaggerating certain elements creating confusion is a matter of concern, and Armenia needs to reassess its steps.

It is unacceptable for a country that has built its national policy on the basis of hatred against Azerbaijanis and Turks and has demonstrated it in all its actions, which generally destroys and deports all ethnic peoples living in its territory, to accuse Azerbaijan of hatred against Armenians.

As for the baseless claims that Azerbaijan's goal is supposedly "ethnic cleansing" and "deportation" of Armenian residents, the Armenian side, which has carried out ethnic cleansing and mass killings against hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis, has no moral right to speak in the field of ensuring people's rights.

In relation to the ideas that have been repeatedly voiced by Armenia and repeated during the last speech regarding the situation around the Lachin road, let us note that the illegal exploitation of Azerbaijan's natural resources, the transportation of these resources from Azerbaijan to Armenia, and the abuse of the Lachin road, which is the sovereign territory of Azerbaijan, intended only for humanitarian purposes. peaceful protests with the demand of prevention is the legitimate right of the people of Azerbaijan. Illegal activities in the territories of Azerbaijan where Armenian residents live are a threat to the national security of Azerbaijan and it is necessary to put an end to such activities.

Azerbaijan will continue to take all necessary measures to protect its national interests and security."
