Payment in public transport in Baku can be made by credit cards

Negotiations are held with both banks and “BakiKart” on the conduction of payments via bank cards in public transportation in Baku, the manager of MasterCard for Azerbaidjan Erdem Chakar told APA-Economics.

According to him, the use of bank cards as a payment method in transportation is one of the most important bases of the “Non-cash Azerbaijan” program.

“We really want to implement this project, this issue is being discussed between banks and BakıKart. But for this an appropriate base must be created, banks need to create contactless functionality. Even the presence of infrastructure that can accept these cards is necessary. It is too early to say when all this will happen because we are dependent on the steps of other structures”, said E. Chakar.
