President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev reviewed the repair work to be carried out at the Kondalanchay reservoirs in the Fuzuli region, APA reports.
The fact that tens of thousands of hectares of arable land were not irrigated during the occupation actually resulted in the withdrawal of these areas from economic circulation.
The deliberate destruction of existing reservoirs is the result of Armenia's destructive activities to agriculture in Karabakh. The Kondalanchay reservoir is a clear example of this.
With the restoration of the Kondalanchay-1, Kondalanchay-2, and Ashagi Kondelanchay reservoirs included in the general system, it will be possible to irrigate 6,200 hectares of arable land in the Fuzuli region.
Note that a total of 9 reservoirs are being built or repaired in the liberated areas. Proper and efficient management of Karabakh's rich water resources will accelerate the economic development of the region as a whole.
The agricultural potential of the liberated territories will become one of the important drivers of the country's economy. Proper management and efficient use of water resources will contribute to the development of the agricultural sector in Karabakh. This issue will be resolved with the commissioning of reservoirs that are currently being restored.
During the occupation, Armenia deliberately used water resources as a means of pressure. Today, according to the strategic course of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the infrastructure for the purposeful use of water during the restoration process is being improved. At the same time, it is aimed at improving the living conditions of former IDPs, increasing employment, and ensuring food security in the country.
