Eid al-Adha is celebrated in Azerbaijan, APA reports.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, this year Eid al-Adha is celebrated on July 9 and 10.

Since July 9 and 10 falls on Saturday and Sunday, the place of work and rest days will be changed according to the Labor Code. July 11 and 12 will be a non-working day.

Thus, there will be 4 consecutive non-working days due to Eid al-Adha.

According to the recommendations of the Caucasian Muslim Administration (CMA), according to the calculations of the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory of ANAS, according to the appearance of the crescent moon on the horizon of Azerbaijan, the Eid al-Adha will coincide with the 10th of Zul-Hijja - July 9 according to the Gregorian calendar. According to Sharia, the sacrifice can last for 3 days, starting from July 9.

Joint holiday prayers will be held in mosques on July 9.

Within the framework of the "From the Village to the City" project, an online fair for the sale of sacrificial sheep is organized in Baku and Sumgait in connection with Eid al-Adha. The main purpose of organizing the fair is to meet the growing demand of citizens for sacrificial sheep, to increase the possibilities of alternative sacrificial choice and to promote the use of online services. Online ordering of sacrifices is carried out through the electronic portal qurbanliq.kendden.az. The electronic portal has been made available to citizens since July 5.

It was stated in the recommendations of the CMB that sheep are usually preferred for sacrifice. However, goats, cows and camels can also be chosen for sacrifice. Everyone is free to share that meat. Sacrifice must be performed in clean and highly sanitary conditions, in suitable places. According to Sharia rules, the sacrificed animal must be healthy and fit for slaughter. Sick, emaciated and deformed animals are not considered suitable for sacrifice. Animals that have reached a certain age are usually slaughtered. Goats and sheep should be about one year old, oxen and cows should be more than one or two years old, and camels should be five years old. According to Sharia, it is important to slaughter the animal with its face extended towards the Qiblah and mentioning the name of Allah with the intention of sacrifice. The sacrifice is mainly divided into three parts: one part is recommended to be given to the victim himself, the other part to the poor and needy families, and the third part is recommended to be distributed to relatives as a gift.
