“Common Turkish History” to be taught at all schools of Azerbaijan starting from next year

A meeting has been held between the President of the International Turkic Academy (BTA) Darkhan Kidirali and Azerbaijani Education Minister Ceyhun Bayramov, APA reports.

The projects implemented by the International Turkic Academy and the prospects of cooperation in the field of education were discussed at the meeting.

BTA President has given detailed information about the organization's activities and said that after the VII Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States held in Baku, the chairmanship of the Scientific Council of the Academy which of Education Ministers of the member countries represented was transferred to Azerbaijan. The president of the academy noted that he was pleased with the decision of the Ministry of Education to launch the project "Common Turkish History" textbook as a pilot project in 150 secondary schools of Azerbaijan.

Education Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that Azerbaijani side closely follows and appreciates the activities of the International Turkic Academy and there are good opportunities for further cooperation.

According to him, the "Common Turkish History" textbook will be included in the curriculum of all secondary schools of the country starting from next year.

Mr. Minister said that the next meeting of the Scientific Council under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan will be held in Azerbaijan and the activity directions and plans of the Academy for the next year will be discussed.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
