Area of more than 20,000 ha demined in territories, liberated from occupation, last year

"I should note firstly that demining operations in the territories liberated from occupation are conducted by ANAMA, Defense Ministry, Ministry of Emergency Situations and State Border Service," said Chair of Board of Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov, APA reports.

According to him, an area of 20,165 has been cleaned from mines in 2021 in total, 41,503 mines and unexploded ordnances have been detected: "As you know, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has a decree on "Additional measures on coordination of demining activity in the territory of Azerbaijan" dated September 16, 2021. According to the document, ANAMA has been charged with control on coordination, monitoring of the implementation of done works, and completion with quality in relevance with the distribution of tasks."
