Today, with the participation of the Minister of Emergency Situations, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov, an operational meeting dedicated to fire fighting measures in the northern region of the republic was held, APA reports.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Lieutenant General Etibar Mirzayev and heads of relevant structures of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Firdovsi Aliyev, Head of the Main Public Security Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Major General of Police Ogtay Karimov, Head of Siyazan District Executive Power Novruz Novruzov, Asif Huseynov, the head of the Shabran District Executive Power, Elnur Rzayev, the head of the Khachmaz District Executive Power, Ziyaddin Aliyev, the head of the Guba District Executive Power, the heads of the law enforcement agencies operating in the mentioned regions, including district prosecutors, participated.
At the meeting, the latest situation regarding the fires in the northern region of the republic and the steps to be taken in the direction of completely extinguishing the fires were discussed.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov emphasized that the material and technical base of the Ministry of Emergency Situations is at the level of the most modern standards thanks to the attention and care of Mr. President Ilham Aliyev, and drew attention to the existence of a sufficient potential for the complete extinguishing of fires. He said that the fires that occurred in Siyazan, Shabran, Khachmaz, and Guba regions were brought under control, and extinguishing of some smoke sources and cooling works continued.
The Minister added that the Ministry's State Fire Protection Service, Civil Defense Troops, Special Risk Rescue Service, forces of the Northern Regional Center and the "BE-200 CS" amphibious plane and 2 helicopters of the aviation unit were involved in the fire extinguishing operations. In addition, the personnel and equipment of the Forestry Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and local executive authorities were involved in the firefighting measures. Also, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and "Azersu" JSC are closely involved in fire prevention.
At the meeting, the works carried out in the direction of complete extinguishing of the fires that occurred were widely discussed, relevant tasks were given to implement necessary and urgent measures.
Then Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov visited the areas where the fire broke out with a helicopter.
