Japan's industrial production drops by 1.5% in July

Japan's industrial production index landed at 100.4 in July, down by 1.5% month-on-month, according to a report released by the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) on Tuesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The figure stood in line with expectations, up by 11.6% when compared to July 2020, as the shipments index added 10.8% year-on-year, while inventories shrank by 4.3% and the inventory ratio plummeted 13% on an annual basis.

On a monthly basis, the index of shipments and the inventories index both contracted by 0.6%, while the inventory rate grew by 1.2%.
