"I send you my sincere congratulations, wishes of peace, prosperity and progress to you and all the people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of the national holiday of Azerbaijan," said French President Emanuel Macron in his congratulatory letter sent to Azerbaijani President, APA reports.
"As the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries approaches, our strong and long-lasting bilateral relations have significantly strengthened. During our last telephone conversation on January 14 this year, we wanted to breathe new life into our bilateral relations. In the same openness and sincerity, you received Secretary of State Jean-Baptiste Lomua, who visited Baku on January 25 this year.
Six months after the Tripartite Declaration of November 9, 2020, which put an end to the deadly fighting in Nagorno-Karabakh, deep work must be continued to create conditions for lasting peace on the ground. This means, in particular, the peaceful delimitation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the reunion of prisoners of war with their relatives. It is also important to preserve the diversity of the region's heritage. In this regard, I recommend that you facilitate the organization of the mission proposed by UNESCO.
I know your personal commitment to the quality of our bilateral relations. I share this with you and I wish that together we can use the great potential for development, especially in the fields of economy, culture and education. Our bilateral projects on the example of the Azerbaijan-French University or with the French Development Agency, which have been developing positively in recent years, are achievements that allow us to strengthen our friendship on a daily basis and look to the future with confidence. We must continue this ambition.
In conclusion, I assure you that it will continue all its commitments as a co-chair of the Minsk Group to establish a high-level dialogue under the auspices of France, and that a just, lasting peace and common prosperity can be achieved between your country and Armenia," the letter reads.
