“One of the other notable facts from the First Karabakh War is that Armenians separated teenagers and young people from their families and took them to unknown places,” said Secretary of the State Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons Ismayil Akhundov, APA reports.

He noted that the fate of 9 people who were taken to Khankendi and then to an unknown destination after being taken hostage is unknown: “Despite the fact that 29 years have passed, the Armenian side does not provide any information about the missing and hostages. Healthy teenagers were most likely used by Armenians as donors or to sell their organs. The International Committee of the Red Cross visited 54 captives and hostages.

Later, 17 of them were killed in custody, their bodies were handed over, and the fate of the rest is still unknown. Work is underway on a framework agreement with the International Committee of the Red Cross. Work in this area will continue until the fate of the last missing person is clarified.”
