"A key element of the implementation of the "six platforms" is the opening of the Zangazur corridor soon," editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine of Russia, famous military expert Igor Korotchenko told APA’s correspondent in Moscow.
I. Korotchenko noted that implementation of “six platforms”, which covers the South Caucasian Republics and three big neighbors, is vital for the region: “”3+3” cooperation format is crucial for the South Caucasus. The key element of the implementation of this initiative, of course, is the opening of the Zangazur corridor soon, which connects Nakhchivan with Azerbaijan. In general, the opening of transport and communication ties is one of the most important factors in stabilizing the situation in the region. Russia supports peace and cooperation, reduction of military confrontation in the region, delimitation and demarcation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. It is possible that this may lead to reaching of peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In this case, new initiatives and steps are necessary to make the situation in the region known and pragmatic. I consider that Russia will continue its efforts finding a concrete content to the "3 + 3" cooperation format initiative and making this a reality. This will benefit all countries of the region including Armenia whose economic and financial system is in a deplorable state. If Armenia pursues the path of confrontation, not cooperation, it will become a political and economic suicide for it. We hope that “3+3” initiative will be implemented sooner or later. Russia will make every effort in this direction.”
