Azerbaijan initiates criminal case against director of "Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute"

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan continues the necessary measures on preventing attempts to commit provocations, terrorist acts and other criminal acts aimed at disrupting socio-political stability in the country, as well as to bring to justice those who committed such acts in accordance with international law, APA reports.

As a continuation of the complex measures taken, the investigations carried out by the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan analyzed some facts related to open calls for terrorism on some Internet resources.

During the investigation it was revealed that Stepan Daniyelyan, a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, Chairman of the Partnership for Democracy Center, as well as editor of the Armenian Religions website, and Armenian historian, publicist, director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute at the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Yerevan State University, Ayk Demoyan, a teacher and member of the board of the Prospekt Regional and Political Studies Center used their social network and other websites to cause explosions in internationally recognized areas of the country, causing panic among the population, killing people, damaging their health, causing significant property damage and other socially dangerous consequences. They were found to be openly calling for terrorism accompanied by threats of such actions, as well as to disseminate similar materials.

The Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan initiated a criminal case under Articles 12.2, 214-2 (open incitement to terrorism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and entrusted the investigation to the Prosecutor General's Office.

An intensive investigation is underway.

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan will take all necessary measures to bring to justice those who committed criminal acts in the country, including against the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in accordance with international law.
