Head of ANAMA: “More than 48.000 mines and UXO were found in liberated territories so far”

“Azerbaijan continues measures of clearing mines planted by Armenian armed forces in the liberated from the occupation Karabakh region and surrounding territories in the past,” said Chairman of the Board of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA) Vugar Suleymanov in his interview with Anadolu Agency.

The head of ANAMA noted that from November 10 2020 until October 15, 2021, 18302 hectares area was cleared from mines and unexploded ordnance: “22 230 unexploded ordnance, 17,426 antipersonnel mines, 8,755 anti-tank mines were revealed in those areas and neutralized. Demining works in the liberated territories from the occupation are continuing uninterruptedly.”
