More than 870,000 global coronavirus cases identified over the past day, WHO says

The number of confirmed cases of infection with the new coronavirus in the world exceeded 149.21 million, increasing by more than 870 thousand per day, APA reports citing Free News.

According to data published on Thursday by the World Health Organization (WHO), the number of deaths increased by more than 14.8 thousand, exceeding 3.14 million.

As of 18:38 Moscow time on April 28, WHO received information about 149,216,984 infected and 3,144,028 dead. The number of infected people increased by 870,419, deaths by 14,886.

WHO statistics take into account only officially confirmed information about infected and deceased persons provided by States. More than 45% of cases of infection over the past day are in the region of South-East Asia, which also includes India (396,122), in second place – North and South America (206,625), in third – Europe (195,095).
