Body of missing Azerbaijani student found in Lake Albona in Italy - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

The body of Azerbaijani student Elnur Babayev was found in Lake Albona in Italy on June 18 at 6:00PM local time, the deceased’s father, Rafig Babayev, told APA.

Babayev, who is currently in Italy, said that the search for his missing son was intensified during the last three days.

“A special ship was involved in the search. Later, the body was found at a depth of 80-90m. The body was recovered from the water by a special device. The identification of the body was carried out and it was sent to morgue for examination. Today, at 12:00 Rome local time, an expert opinion will be announced,” he said.

The bereaved father added that the body is expected to be brought to Baku on June 22-23 with the support of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Italy.

The body of an Azerbaijani student who went missing in Lake Albona in Italy has been recovered, the deceased’s close relative, Natavan Seyidzade, told APA.

She noted that the body was found two days ago.

"Currently, paperwork is being processed to bring the body to Baku. The body will probably be brought to Baku on June 22," she added.

Elnur Babayev, 29, a political science student of the University of Rome, drowned in Lake Albona in the city of Castel Gandolfo on June 2.

He was the only child in his family.
