“17-year break in holding congress of Composers’ Union was not normal. That’s why this congress was more strained than the pervious one, some made critical speeches. But is can say that the congress and elections were serious, democratic and transparent,” Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev told journalists, APA reports.
The minister wished success to the newly-elected chairwoman of the composers’ union.
“The activity of the composers’ union will be very efficient. Firengiz Alizade is a good specialist. I want the works of all Azerbaijani composers to be recognized all over the world as the works of Firengiz Alizade. We should take pride that she represents Azerbaijan abroad,” he said.
The minister is also satisfied with 21-member managing staff of the composers’ union and noted that according to the regulations the elections are to be held every five years.
Abulfas Garayev commented on 50 composers’ nominating their candidacy in the elections.
“There about 200 composers in Azerbaijan. The composers’ union has 196 members. They nominated 50 composers to the managing staff. I think is is normal procedure,” he said. /APA/
