Beijing health authorities said on Friday people will no longer be required to wear face masks in public after the Chinese capital reported no new coronavirus cases for 13 consecutive days, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The city's authorities had already lifted the mask requirement in April, but reintroduced it in June after seeing a resurgence in locally transmitted COVID-19 infections following an outbreak at a wholesale market.

Over the past 24 hours, the whole of China reported 22 new imported coronavirus infections but has not reported any new locally transmitted cases for the past five days.
