Five Japanese nationals have tested positive for the new strain of the coronavirus, APA reports citing Teletrader.

The infections are the first identified cases of the new variant on Japanese territory.

All five people have reportedly traveled to the United Kingdom, where the new strain is currently the most widespread. They have been put in quarantine and health officials are working to trace the source of the infection and identify their contacts to stop further transmissions.
