China, Egypt could adopt Russian analogue to Visa

China, Egypt, Azerbaijan, and some other countries could adopt the Russian payment system Mir as Moscow is currently negotiating on this matter with their governments, Russian media TASS reported on Saturday, following its interview with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Pankin, APA reports citing Teletrader.

Previously, at the beginning of this month, Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that five Turkish banks have adopted this payment system, while Iran announced it will do so soon.

Russian analogue of Visa and MasterCard was created after the National Payment Cards System (NPCS) had been established in 2014, following events related to Crimea.
