Protests and clashes with security forces continue in Iran

Protests continue in Iran, APA reports.

Slogans such as “Death to the dictator!”, “Freedom!”, “This year is different, Ali has been overthrown!” others chanted.

Police opened fire on protesters in front of the Theater station of the Tehran metro. In addition to this, night protests were held in a housing estate in Islamabad of Urmia city of West Azerbaijan Province. Protestors blocked the roads by putting up bonfires.

The government deployed troops to the cities due to mass strikes. In West Azerbaijan province, in addition to the city of Urmia, protests, strikes of markets, and local businesses continued in Nagda, Piranshahr, and Bukan.

In addition to West Azerbaijan, tension continues in East Azerbaijan province as well. Protesting in front of the court of Marand city, Azerbaijanis demanded the release of 5 elders from the Zunuz region. In Ardabil, the South Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement flag was hung from the bridge.

Tension continues in other provinces of Iran as well. Protesters set fire to the headquarters of Basij forces in the Shagachi quarter of Rasht city of Gilan province. There was a hand-to-hand fight between protesters and government forces in the Gohardasht quarter of Karaj. Protesters threw red paint, meaning blood, on the banner with Khamenei's picture. In the city of Ilam, an angry mob set fire to the headquarters of the radical Basij forces.
