Armenia has resorted to provocation against Azerbaijan at the meeting of the Management Board of the Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS (IFESCCO), the press service of Azerbaijan’s Embassy to Russia told APA’s Moscow correspondent.
At the meeting of the management board of the Foundation held on July 9 in online mode, Armenia’s deputy minister of education, science, culture and sport Ara Khzmalyan unexpectedly raised the issue of inclusion in the agenda of the premature re-election of chairman of the Management Board of Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation of the CIS (IFESCCO): “We would like to bring to your notice that the chairman of the Management board of the Foundation is elected for the period of two years. The Management board of the Foundation has been chaired by Polad Bulbuloglu from 2010 up to now. And the new elections have been scheduled for the end of 2020”.
The report says the aforementioned provocation of the Armenian side caused negative reaction of the meeting participants: "But in compliance with the internal rules of holding of open democratic elections, Polad Bulbuloglu accepted the mentioned proposal of Ara Khzmalyan and put the issue to vote. Consequently, the proposal of Armenia’s representative suffered overwhelming defeat. The ministers of culture of 8 member states of CIS out of the total 9 member states voted against Armenia’s proposal taking into consideration the work experience of Azerbaijan’s representative. It is surprising that six months prior to the elections, Armenia has come up with such a proposal. We are sure that this proposal is associated with the fact that Azerbaijan’s representative serves in the position of chairman of the Management Board of the Foundation. This voting once again proved the high prestige of Polad Bulbuloglu on the CIS arena”.
